It happens, but like you I now make sure I check every paw pad also when I am clipping nails.
Thanks so much for sharing...I did feel so terrible when I discovered it....even the vet said that she has seen it before in cats and dogs and she was so quick clipping and removing the nail and my little guy didn't even make a sound. I'll be sure to check them regularly and get him in for more frequent clippings.
