Typically my boss would clip it and if it is that long the quick will be long as well. So when it's cut it will bleed from the nail as well as the pad. They will clean it up and probably put him on antibiotics. It's not an ideal situation but it does happen. With all that hair it's easy to miss. You're doing the right thing by taking him to the vet and letting them clip it! Hopefully he will be good as new soon!
