Default Nail growing into paw pad

I am very bad with nail trimming... I do the bathing and grooming and twice a year I take the boys to the vet to get their nails cut....well I decided to finally buy some nail clippers and try it on my own.... The little guys nails were fine and I just took a tiny bit off. Then I go to do the older bigger boy and when I went to clip the last little nail on his back paw I see that it is curled over and it seems to have penetrated the paw pad!!! I'm so freaked out! I tried to lift it up and it started bleeding a little... That's how I know it's penetrated the pad. Has anyone ever experienced this??? I've read about neglected dogs... But mine are bathed every other week and they get trimmed with clippers once a month... I never thought it would happen to one of mine! I'm taking him in to the vet tomorrow morning first thing (this was only discovered later tonight)... I'm so glad I bought the nail clippers and discovered this! He has shown no sign of pain. Or discomfort either... Still walking fine and playing and jumping etc... Has anyone ever been through this? I'm so worried. It seems like it might require sedation or something?? He's almost 15 and I hate to put him though this stress. Never in all of the years I've had him have I ever seen anything like this... I hope
It's not serious.
