Personally, I believe if an animal/pet hates a crate - then don't use it. They are VERY confining and can be very distressing for living creatures, for sure.
All of my dogs despise the crate - so we never used one. We instead used the Iris 4-panel pen for them, which they readily accepted. You can get it on Amazon or at Walmart.
