WELCOME to the group, and congrats on your new little fur baby! Don't worry about going from a large dog to a small one.

When I was married, we had a german shepherd. I mentioned to my ex that I would love to have a "lapdog". At first, he was really against it. A few days later, he told me if that was what I really wanted to go ahead and get one.

To make a long story short, I got Tiffany, a Yorkie, and took great pains to make sure she bonded with my ex. I always put her on his lap and gave him treats for her, so she soon learned that all she had to do was jump on his lap and she would get treats! My ex would even eat ice cream, and share the ice-cream off his spoon with Tiffany. Made my heart melt. And every single day, he would get down on the floor and play with her. After a few months he shocked me by saying that of all the dogs he had EVER had, and he had had many, this little Yorkie was his absolute favorite!!! When I left my marriage years later, I gave her to him, and he said it was the nicest thing anyone had ever done for him. So even though he has always had big dogs and didn't really want a small one, he fell completely in love with her. He called me the day she died and he was inconsolable. And he got a another Yorkie soon after. Says he will never live a day in his life without a Yorkie in it. :-) So, even though you have only had big dogs, before, I guarantee you that you will fall madly in love with a Yorkie! ENJOY!!!
