I disagree with any source that contends licking is a dominance thing. My boys lick our hands to show affection. We sort of encouraged it by giggling or saying "thank you." They are big kissers in general.

Max has very sticky saliva and my dad will jokingly say, "Blah! Now I have to wash my hands." Max 'laughs' along with him.

My boys are also attracted to the scent of our hand soap. Soaps, lotions, air fresheners . . . any products you use on yourself or in your home, you may want to consider if these are encouraging the licking.
