With his pre-existing throat condition, he is then that much more likely to be vulnerable to GERD bc of what's happening structurally to that entire area.
I would not under any circumstances look into the spray thing and then punish him for licking. It's either a genuine symptom of something physical -or- it's psychological -- and either way, neither of them warrant any sort of intervention that could be interpreted as punishment. (I'm not at all implying you were thinking of punishing...I'm just pointing this out bc the earlier poster seemed to view this as an option.)

Oh no I totally get it, I feel as if people are very quick to punish a dog, punish sounds harsh but you know what I mean! when I say no I don't say it in a stern manner I usually just move as I hate being sticky! Lol And I will certainly look into that, it wouldn't be causing him any harm? Thanks very much for the help!
