I am talking about those plain little whistles that you can hang around your neck on a string.

I started whistling for my puppy in the house - and give him a piece of chicken every times he comes (which is always - he loves chicken). I don't care where he is in the house or what he's doing - he'll be at my feet in only a few seconds.

I've been doing this for the past couple weeks because I want him to come to me when we're outside. (I'm afraid he might get loose sometime - aren't we all!)

Well today - I took him out and let him run around for about 10 or 15 minutes - on about his (100-foot) clothesline that I let him run on.

I waited until he was busy smelling a bush - far away from me - and blew the whistle - and lo and behold, he was at my feet instantly. (Of course, I had some chicken with me). I did this three or four times, and everything he jumped and ran as fast as his little legs would carry him to me.

So - it looks like this just might work. To be truthful - when he's on the clothesline - he doesn't even know he's tied to anything with all the freedom he has to run around. So, I am sure that if he had been loose, he would have come right to me then also.
