OP Sharon, during one of our vet visits, a new tech referred to Max as "she" and "her" repeatedly. I corrected her each time and the tech replied, "With hair like that, looks like a girl."
She meant it as a funny compliment, but I didn't let it slide because to me that does speak to quality of care. If they can't get my dog's gender right, then I would worry about serious errors.

You're a much bigger person than I am. The gender thing is the only thing that I don't let slide. I have no idea why it bugs me so much, it just does. Kaji gets called a she even with short hair.

Knowing me I would have said something nasty back at that comment.
