Default How does one keep their sanity with a new puppy in the house? lol

I have only ever had one puppy before I just got Lacy, so I have very little experience in dealing with a 3 month old pup. If anyone has any ideas of what I could do differently to make things better, (for both of us) I would sure appreciate hearing it!

I have Lacy in a playpen, with her UGO potty, water, food and bed. Underneath the playpen I have a whelping pad. She pees on the UGO about 80% of the time, but she will not poop on it, which causes a real problem, because she has giardia. So, every time she poops, she walks through it and gets it on everything, and I have to wash her feet, butt, bedding, bed, UGO pad, and whelping pad. Ok, so that I can handle, as I have multiple beds, bedding and whelping pads. :-)

What I am having great difficulty with, is two things. One - every time I take her into the kitchen to play, I set her down on the UGO pad, and try to play with her, but she won't play with me. I pick her up and put her on the UGO every 2 minutes, but she jumps off and pees on the floor. She does this all the time. I even use the potty training spray on the ugo pad. HOW on earth do I get her to use the UGO in the kitchen??? I finally found a treat that she likes, so for 15 minutes straight, I got a piece of dried liver treat, walked over to the UGO, and once she stood on the ugo, I praised her and gave her the treat.

Second thing that I am having great difficulty with is hearing her scream ALL DAY LONG. I love this sweet little puppy so much, and all I want to do is pick her up, cuddle her and comfort her, but I know I cannot do that or she will never stop the screaming. As soon as I put here in the playpen, the screaming starts and continues for hours on end. My nerves are at the breaking point. How long will this screaming go on for?

I want to buy a second puppy so Lacy will have a brother, but will never buy another one unless it is trained on the UGO, then I wouldn't be having this huge problem. If she was trained on the ugo, she would have the run of the house, and we would both be SO happy. But when she keeps pooping on the whelping pad, and pees on the kitchen floor all the time, she has to be kept in her playpen, which she and I both HATE!!!

I want her to be with me, I want to enjoy each other, I want to comfort her and hold her and love her to bits. But it is not possible.

Is there anything else that I can do to get her potty trained so she can have the run of the house and make us BOTH supremely HAPPY???
