Has your pup been to the vet for a wellness check since you brought him home? It's highly advisable to do this with a new pup, and is usually part of a contract for the health guarantee. You probably have more shots to follow up on too.
Has he been around any other dogs since you brought him home? I believe kennel cough can only be picked up by close proximity to other dogs.
