Just an update, Chewie had a relapse today so we made a trip to a different vet. The staff was immediately more courteous and friendly than the vet's office I've been going to, and they all loved chewie. The nurse took his temp, listened to my concerns, did a swab for parvo, and also did a swab on his ears which I also wanted checked. The parvo was negative, and she did a thorough exam and then ran blood work for him. He was clear on all except had low red blood cell count so she suspected hook worms and gave me meds for that. Also they ran an xray, which shows a tiny pebble he ate. They gave him fluids and a shot for nausea, and sent me home with bland food, more nausea meds, and I am supposed to bring back a stool sample for them. It was expensive but glad I went, I feel like that's what should have been done at the first vet. And I've learned that even though he is a furbaby, the momma instincts are still there and I am glad I chose to go with my gut!
