Default Peanut Butter Allergy

How common is it for a dog to be allergic to peanut butter? I have been testing Boomer for food allergies giving him a very limited diet. The vet said I can start adding in a new protein to see how he handles it.

Well yesterday I gave Boomer a kong filled with peanut butter not thinking anything of it. It was the first time he had peanut butter from the jar in almost two months. He did have some peanut butter training treats a few weeks ago with no problem. Last evening I noticed him licking his hind paws which was unusual for him. When I took a look at them they were red and irritated in between the toes.

I went over everything I gave him food wise that day and the only difference in his diet was the peanut butter and a salmon biscuit that I didn't realize was not grain free. I put hydrocortisone on his paws to help with the licking and irritation and he his on his last pill of Temporal II (spelling off)

Today he seems to be better. I haven't seen any licking but he has been sleeping most of the day as usual. I will check the irritation when I get home. Is it common for dogs to be allergic to peanut butter?
