Thanks so much for letting us know!!
Well the interesting/aggravating thing is it wasn't my vet. He didn't return my call. I called every vet within an hour of me. One of these was listed as an "emergency vet" and said on his website he was open today. I called and told him my situation. When he found out I was an hour away he said to go somewhere closer. I explained that all of the local places were closed. He said, "Well, I'm closed too. Why should I see him?" I told him he needed to change his website then.

The vet we saw is half an hour away and she will be who I see from now on. I need someone I can count on in an emergency. She was a little angry at first to have to come in on a Sunday, but once she saw him she said it was good that I insisted on bringing him in. Like you, she said he could have been in very bad shape pretty quickly.
