I had tiny poodles less than 5 pounds who all lived 171/2-18 years. My main concern was Bella if anyone had one breed this early and any complications they had. She will b well cared for and closely watched. For the record u can hear heartbeats with a Doppler not a stethoscope at 3 weeks and can confirm and see heartbeats with an ultrasound. This is for the ones that want to know early. But know what u r seeing or hearing. Not to sound mean at all but if u r a breeder, u might want to make sure u r answering the question. I was 99.9 % sure she was pregnant, but again my questions were has anyone else had this? Outcome? And problems? Regardless I don't believe in destroying the lives of these pups, even if they were not planned. And I was not doubting my ability to know she was pregnant. Too many yrs of taking care of pregnant women and bitches. Thank you for ur replies and please if anyone has had this problem please don't hesitate to respond. Thxs all!
I did answer your question honestly. I have been raising yorkies for over 17 years. I have never bred a female that young and I never would. It is risky to breed a 7 1/2 month old puppy. Her uterus can rupture. She might very well need a c-section and that is risky. It will not be easy for her to raise a large little because of her age and size. Please read up on eclampsia so you will know what signs to look for after she has her pups. Since you seem to already be experienced then you should already know all risks of delivery, regardless of age.

As for using a doppler, I have always read that the fetus needs to be about 4 weeks before the heartbeat can be detected. If your female is already showing then there is a good possibility that she is further along than you think since you never saw her breed. I do hope everything turns out well.
