Research, research, research, read reviews, ask for past customer references, ask who the vet she/he uses and talk to them. Ask to see the parents, ask for medical history of parents, grandparents and on back. Read the contract, make sure there is health guarantee. A good breeder is gonna want to interview you and make sure you/your family is suited for one of her babies, an educated buyer is going to want to interview the breeder to make sure she is what she says she is. Most breeders appreciate the fact that you are doing all you can for a healthy baby.

Also understand the size, both of mine are 5lbs, that is SMALL, I wouldn't want them any smaller. Picking the wrong or backyard breeder in order to get a cheap OR expensive "tiny" is opening Pandora's box of health issues.

I am not a breeder, that is a job I do not want for the heartbreak that goes with it. I am a buyer that got burnt the first time from a byb that ended up costing big money in vet cost. I was uneducated and did not know any better, but it didn't take me but one time to learn. Know that Yorkies are proned to certain illnesses, decisions of where you get your pup could make or break your heart.

When I got Presley I didn't even want to see him until I had done my homework on the breeder and a million questions to the breeder. This was a decision I made with my head first, and after that the first sight of him my heart was his.

Good luck and please do not be scared to ask breeders questions. I know there is a million more reminders for you that I haven't posted, hopefully others will give you tips too
