 Possible service dog?
Riley has always been pretty in-tune with the sounds of our house and he's been showing some interesting behavior regarding those sounds. At first I thought it was just a coincidence but once I started to pay a alittle more attention to it I realized he's pretty consistant. When the microwave goes off he comes to me, scratches my leg, barks and then goes to the kitchen and sits in front of the microwave...he does the same thing with the coffee pot beeps in the morning. Like most dogs he always lets me know when someone is at the door or near the house but he comes to alert me first and then goes to whatever is going on. He's only a little over 9 months old and I haven't taught him to do this...and to my knowledge he didn't come from a home with a service dog so he's not copying anyone. How do I encourage this or teach him more? Is there a group or club that trains for this type of service? I kind of like it actually...I lost some of my hearing in a car accident a couple years ago and even though I do hear the microwave go off it's nice that he alerts me. |
