I am so sorry to hear this story about Flossie. She doesn't sound good. I can understand what you are going through. This past July we had to have our Brittany Spaniel put out of her pain. It was soo heart breaking, but she couldn't walk anymore and she started loosing control of her bowels like your Flossie. The vets came to our house on a very beautiful day. We just loved Lola so much. We took her into the garden, and my mom held her in her arms and embrassed her against her body. I couldn't be there for that part but my mom and dad said that it was peaceful.
It is something that is very upsetting but you have to find peace because the ones that pass are somewhere special now. It too was Lola's time to go. Just think of all the ways that Flossie has brought happiness to your and your mothers lives. I agree and think that she should be brought inside, or taken in tonight. Maybe you could give her a sponge bath to clean her up some (we did this with our dog Lola) and make her a nice warm bed next to yours. I live in NC as well, and it's cold out there right now.
I am sorry that this difficult time in your life is full of hard decisions, but you will be okay, and so will Flossie, just make her last hours/minutes on earth peaceful and loving.
