I have a series of 3 photographs of a red tailed hawk circling my Yorkie in Southern Oregon. The last of the 3 pics shows the hawk coming down for him. I happened to be photographing some items outside (I'm a freelance photographer) when I realized I was hearing 2 hawks communicating with each other (possibly) before one of them started his descent for my Yorkie. There was a man in a store in this town who told me he & his wife had a Yorkie who was on the ground next to them when an owl swooped down & took the dog. From that moment on, I never let my dog out without a leash & even when he goes out on the deck in the snow, I go with him. I've heard too many stories like this. There was an owl who swooped down & removed someone's hat off her head as she was bicycling along the golf path. Never let your Yorkies out alone where these raptors can grab them. They aren't even afraid of people.
