I don't think he will gain any weight while he is eating boiled chicken and rice, you may have to wait until he is off that diet, chicken in low in calories. If he is being treated for pancreatitis your vet may put him on a prescription dietary dog food. Do you have a vet follow up visit in 2 weeks? If your vet does not put him on this prescription dog food, you should ask your vet about kind of dog food he should be eating.
