Yes it is typical...... Years back when I had a BIG girl spayed at 6 months I was soooo nervous I insisted they keep her over night. Some vets do not have night personal to monitor dogs, If your vet does and if you have the funds to pay for over night, and you are really nervous you can insist they PLEASE keep her over night.
