Personally, I would be concerned. I hate to say don't worry and then something happens.....and I hate to say it will be ok. Splinters can cause tears. Objects can also cause obstructions.
I would say call your local EC, but unless you have a relationship with them, they probably won't give advice on this one over the phone.
Ideally, I think they both should be xray'd.
