I wouldn't worry about stopping them to make sure the pups are developed. Your girl will more than likely carry for around 63 days, and (some one can correct me if I'm wrong) the babies can survive if they are only 57 days along. So if your bitch conceived a baby on the first time and then again 6 days later all of the babies should be okay if she carries 63 days.
Also if there are no pups next time you might want to try AI.
