The answer is YES , a five pound yorkie can break a leg or legs when jumping or falling of a bed . A good friend of mine had her yorkie break both front legs, and it was doubtful that one of the legs was going to heal as the surgery was not successful .
Long story short , know your yorkie and what he / she might do . Any yorkie may do this without prior warning and then .. It's too late!
Perhaps sleeping or being on the bed with harness and leash ? Not sure of the best way to try and prevent , except having the mattress on the floor.
