I just flew home with two pups - two weeks ago. Had a health certificate but wasn't ever asked for it. These pups were 4 months old and were allowed by Delta to be in the same carrier - went first class as there was more room under the seats and thought it would be better to be one of the first ones on and off the plane with these little guys. The cost for Delta was $125 for the pet and they didn't charge me double because they were pups under 6 months old. Had the health certificate but was never asked for it. If you fly both ways the same day, you can not do express check in, you have to go to the counter and get a printed ticker.. When I checked back in to fly home, I asked for a special room for the pups/carrier to be checked. The TSA held the carrier while I walked thru the detector, then they took me to a small area with another TSA in the room. I took the pups out there, because one does the wiggles all the time, they scanned the carrier, brought it back, put pups back in and we were cleared to travel. - Hope this helps.
