Default Playing with other dogs and cats

Does anyone have any good tips for training your dogs to get along with other dogs and cats?

Boomer and Thumper (mostly Boomer) wants to be the alpha male and he will bark and go running after other dogs. This has me very concerned as there are a lot of dogs in my area and I need to keep a tight hold on his leash when he is being walked.

I am nervous about letting them play with other animals because Boomer will bark and snap at others. I am taking them with me to my family for Thanksgiving and there will be another dog (Husky) there and I am worried how they will interact.

Togo, the Husky, loves to play with other dogs and is well trained. My dogs are not as trained and may not be as friendly.

I am looking for ways to curb their aggressiveness to other animals. Boomer just gets really excited and wants everyone to know he is in charge. (He has never actually bit anyone or animal but is constantly barking and lunging at other animals)

My plan is to arrive on Wed before the other family and gradually introduce them to Togo while I hold onto his leash. I will crate them if there if they cannot get along.
