You keep every cent you spend on this unfortunate event, and then when it is all over with, take him to small claims court and sue for the amount you are out....not only dog medical bills, but also any fees for prteparing the case against him, and punitive damages too....I am not a lawyer, so I am not sure that you can collect punitive damages, but find that out and go for it........You will have a much better success rate in small claims court, it will not cost you near as much, and you may actually collect a goodly portion of the amount you are going to be out!
