You might not need a specialist, but maybe just a second opinion as suggested above. The hard part is finding the right vet. We were just lucky that our vet had worked trauma for a few years before general practice and had advanced training in eye issues. But even he said that if Max had anymore eye trouble, it was time for the specialist.

It's hit or miss with regular vets whether they know enough about eye issues. You might save a lot of agony and money by just going to the specialist.
