I have had this problem too but I did recently clip lilah's body hair. Satin and silk does seem to help prevent matting. A nice lady on here mentioned she braids her little guys hair before putting a jacket on. For me, this year it felt like a choice between clothes or hair and I really like dressing lilah and don't want to keep my heat up all the time and run the bill. I think if I kept her coat long we would have to, very sparingly, use jackets and sweaters (like outside) with careful measures in place like braiding and immediate before and after brushing and I would just have to keep the heat up higher. I love the long coat so I get really back and forth about it. I would love to hear more tips and tricks. Good luck!
