I got a booster "basket" seat that's elevated (hangs from the back of the seat), but my girl actually seem to prefer sitting in her carrier (which has a strap on one side that I can slide the seat belt into). But yeah, if your current seat could still fit I'd keep it, otherwise maybe something that actually attached to the seat itself instead of sitting in between the seats. That way it doesn't really matter what kind of car you got
