Masking tape, foam, moleskin - I don't think any of that will stop them from chewing. If you removed the baseboard, what is underneath it? I thought it would be drywall but you mentioned splintered wood, which, as Joan said, could be very harmful to them. I have seen people mention Mavala Stop. It is used to stop fingernail biters but can be diluted and sprayed on the area. Or someone said putting chili powder also works. Sasha chewed the drywall on the corner all the way down to the stud. I saturate the areas with the bitter apple now and I do mean saturate. That and she loves chewing her kong now. I put some peanut butter in it for her in the morning. That gets eaten in 2 minutes but she plays with it the rest of the day.
