I would inspect his skin all over...armpits, backs of back legs, btwn back legs, under the collar, belly...etc....make sure there are no areas of irritation.
Paw licking/chewing is the cardinal sign of allergies...but is he only focusing on the 1 paw? If so, that's a bit unusual.
