I may try the reusable pee pads. Today I had to leave Boomer and Thumper gated while I was at work. When I came home they could't get outside fast enough. Boomer even pooped twice on the 15 minute walk. I may even try the pretend grass but I am afraid they may chew that to shreds as well.
When I come home and see the mess they give me a look like I know what I did was wrong but you left me alone.
