Last year I left a package of sausage on the counter, Cody is not that tall but a rather bigger boy, 12 lbs, yet he managed to get hold of the package, I went in the kitchen looking for him (after owning many yorkies I have learned, if they are not in your view they are getting into mischief) and found he had eaten half of one sausage link, I guess the package was close to the edge of the counter. I called my vet immediately, she told me to keep an eye on him, watch his stools which may be loose or diarrhea, if it is diarrhea and it continued to bring him in. I was in a panic, sausage with spices and so much fat, his first stool after eating the sausage was very soft, his 2nd bowel movement was normal. Since then when I am cooking or preparing food he is BANNED from the kitchen. Always call your vet for their advise.
