One of them insists on doing his business next to the pad and making a mess of himself. I'm having to bathe him daily which is upsetting to him. Please help!!!
These babies are still very young....reputable breeders here in the uSA dont usually let their babies go until 12-14 weeks old, when momma dog is "calling herself finished with these kids"!!! I cover the entire bottom of the x-pen or crate where my puppies are, with pee pads, from 4 weeks old....as they get older, I start pulling a pad at a time up...they continue to use the pads and avoid using the area where there is no pee pad.....I keep removing a pad at a time, decreasing the area where they are allowed to go potty, and then I am usually down to one 30" x 36" pad in their x-pen or play pen or play area by the time they are 10 weeks old, and they just automatically go to the pad for bathroom activity. Sometimes they will have those adorable tiny little paws on the pad and that precious little tiny butt is not quite over the pad and the poop or urine falls on the floor, but bless their adorable little hearts, they are TRYING so hard to do right, and they just do not realize their tiny little butt is not on the paper.....you just quickly pick that up so they dont think that is acceptable.....we recognize a valiant effort and a missed sincere attempt and no punishment is warranted, but there is no exhuberant celebration in those efforts!
