Welcome and congrats!
I took in a 9 year old Yorkie right after New Years and then got 2 puppies in May. The 9 year old is awesome! I love that little old man. I am sure you will have years of joy from your new one. Remember that it can take several weeks to months for them to adjust to a new home. My 9 year old wouldn't play for about 5 weeks, but now he loves to play. It just takes time, patience and lots of love to bring them around, although some adjust instantly.
