I am not sure exactly what is available in your area but there is a chewable form called nexgard and bravecto. My mother has been using the bravecto with her weenie dogs (senior girl has bad flea allergies) and it is working great. It lasts for 4 or 6 months....I can't remember. You could ask your vet if that would be safe for him.
