Apparently there is such a thing as an Oak Leaf Itchy Mite, and they are really bad this year. At least, in this part of the country. Repellents don't do much good because they fall from trees onto their host. The bite is the worst thing ever with an incredibly intense itch that lasts for 7-10 days. The mite burrows into the skin (gross!). I have lived here my whole life and have never until recently heard of such a crazy thing. So I am just putting this out there, if you have oak trees and you or your pets are more itchy than usual this could be the culprit. Why oh why, would the creation of such a critter ever be useful to the environment?
