[QUOTE=Snickersmama;4593205]Thank you Wylie's mom for responding. I'm looking at shampoo you suggested at Amazon. I'm just concerned about potential problems with Apoquel... When I look it up I'm seeing some dogs developed tumors, and/or cancerous tumors while on Apoquel. I do not want Snickers to be uncomfortable due to itching but the thought of giving medication that could stop itching but end result could develope cancer worries me. Which was just one of the possible problems with the medication. What's your opinion of Zyrtec or Claritin?[/QUOTE

My Anya, who is now 13, has been on the generic Claritin for years. It has almost completely stopped her itching. My Dalmatian, who died 2 years ago, was on Claritin for most of the 12 years we had her because she was allergic to grass and meat. Her skin would turn raw and red when she went outside in the grass. Claritin helped her immensely.

I would talk with your vet about the different medications and your thoughts and concerns about the Apoquel. I know I was so upset when all my dogs were itching. Good luck.
