Were they seen by a vet after you got them, for a general system check-up? Loose stools can be the result of nothing more serious than a change in water they drink, to worms, and right on up the scale of things to worry about! If they were seen by your vet when you first got them, and they got a clean bill of health, I would probably give it a day or two....give them some canned pumpkin, you can switch to bottled water until they get used to YOUR water if you give them tap water....since they both have the loose stools, it is something they both have "gotten into"...their water, their food, something they grazed on in the back yard, "new home stress", etc.....or something they both have "caught"....I would give some pumpkin, make sure they have distilled water to drink.....I always keep Pedialyte on hand to add to my kiddo's water if they are having an off day...kind of keeps electrolytes in line and organized.....I would give cottage cheese or yogurt instead of regular meals for the next 24-36 hours, so they can kind of get their system back in balance....if the loose stools continue, or turn into a watery diarrhea, you need to step it up a little....I am hesitant to "prescribe" medication, but there are several OTC meds you can give for that.....or a trip to the vet if this continues on for more than a couple of days. I always allow 24 hours for my dog's tummies to settle....I put them on electrolyte water to drink, then I give them cottage cheese or yogurt as first meals after that initial 24 hours, then slowly reintroduce their diets. |
