Yes, the food grade quality is. It can even be given internally for many types of worms. It has been used on live stock as well for internal parasites.

Pool grade diatomaceous earth is not effective for fleas or parasites. It is processed too much to be effective.

Personally, I have asthma, so I do not put it on their skin since I am up close and personal with them too much .
