We had 2 English Setters and an old couch so we allowed the first setter on it, when the 2nd one arrived he got on the couch. It started to become a problem because the dogs were taking up seating and no room for people to sit. The big dog would not move when asked unless TOLD to move. The first setter would move if asked.
New couch, new rules. No dogs on the couch. First setter died. Then 9 year old Yorkie arrives and I allowed him on the couch. My husband was not happy, but his reasons for not allowing the dog on the couch didn't hold up. Dog hair on couch, etc. teen does not she'd like his dog. His dog tries to get on the couch and gets pushed off. Along come 2 puppies who jump up on the couch. Poor older dog, but he is a pain and won't move as is it.
I don't mind little dogs on the couch. If I wNt to sit where one is I pick them and put them on my lap. Teek is always on the back of the couch so not taking up a spot. With the little ones we just move them. I keep a sheet on the main couch but they really don't shed, I do t like the marks they leave on the suede.
I am glad he is allowed on the couch. When we went on vacation we took Teek and my mother in law allowed him o. Her leather couch and chair (covered with a blanket), but when we went back a mo th later she said he could not be on the couch. Too confusing for the dog though. Not sure what will happen when we go up next. I won't board the dogs but not sure she will let us have 3 Yorkies there. I guess we will find out. I can take them 4 miles into town and stay with my friend (who gave me the puppies) and keep the dogs there with me.
