Honestly I don't think ANY dog should warrant a $4000 price tag. I've read that wealthy Chinese have purchased dogs for $20,000. Some people just have way too much money.
I didn't buy Uni from the right person either (I now think a broker), but at least we paid cash and it was over and done with. No interest or any of that. Still ended up enabling an animal abuser though. She may not have been a direct abuser, but she certainly did help that puppymills keep going on.
