I tried a homemade recipe of chicken and rice with supplements, he will eat the chicken rice mixture without the supplements(that he needs). Settled on Stella and Chewy's chicken mixers that I slowly added into the rice. Was working out nicely, finally got him on only the Stella and Chewy's because he needed the nutrients. He is on another hunger strike again. I'm afraid he's already too skinny. But he is over 10lbs so vet says wait. He will eat. I'm at a loss. this is getting stressful and expensive.

I agree with the vet....he WILL not starve to death! He will eat! Just ask ANY stray dog on the side of the highway that is eating roadkill and rocks....he will eat before he starves to death! I would do what the vet said...leave him on the Stella and Chewys (I DO know that some of those foods you add to dry dog food, are NOT designed to be a complete meal...I am not familiar with this brand, just make sure it is not designed to be added to a balanced dog food....my cousin has a little poodle....she feeds that baby a packet of something she buys at the dogfood store....it is DESIGNED to be an additive, not a complete meal and she mixes that with the Lil Bites by Healthy Choice....I dont know the name of the stuff, it comes in many different flavors, little foil packs a little larger than the size of a deck of cards, with tiny little pieces of chicken and veggies and gravy.....that little poodle would KILL you for that meal!!! (If you are interested, I will see if I can get the name of the little packets of dog food mixers.....) She gets it at Petsmart or that other place....PetCo!!!
