These slotted foot rest I had gotten when my last girl was 16 y/o, she was 85% blind, her jumping on things days were over. Then I adopted Cody last year, 2.5 y/o to me a puppy as my Matese was 17 y/o when she left me. Last summer was his first summer with me, I didn't put out the foot rests. This summer I did, I play fetch with Cody while sitting using the foot rest, he was getting the toy then jumped on the foot rest for me to throw the toy again, when he did this my mind SCREAMED oh nooooo, Max caught his paw under an opening, all I could think of was Cody's toes slipping into one of the slots as he turned to jump off to fetch the toy. I RAN in the house, grabbed a towel and put it on the foot rest. I am so careful with this boy because running free in a yard in all new to him, everyday before he comes out I check to make sure no critter dug a hole under my fence where he can get out as I am surrounded by woods, if he ever got out he could be lost forever. If there are any pointed rocks protruding from the ground I pull them out so he doesn't cut his pads, I look for hornets holes in the ground. I am soooo careful. If Max did not have that accident I would never have thought a dog could slip and catch their toes in a slotted foot rest. If that had ever happened I could never have forgiven myself for not being more careful. YES, I have learned from poor little Max's accident and I am sure other ppl have as well. I also have cameras in my house that I can turn on and off from my smart phone to view to make sure Cody is ok when I have to leave him alone for several hours. Modern Technology is wonderful gives us peace of mind for when we have to leave the fur kids home alone. Poor little Sasha misses playing with her brother how cute is that, they are going to be so crazy when Max gets his freedom back lol. 13 days is long and will be torture for max and your family but this is what is needed. I hope it goes by fast for all of you.
