I am new and now just researching flea, tick, and heart worm meds. I do plan on asking my vet about it but also wanted other people's opinions.

I am planing on adopting two yorkie mixes in the next few weeks. I didn't realize that I would need two different meds and that the prices were quite high.

I live in NY so we do get a winter and I read somewhere that I may not have to give the flea/tick meds in winter time.

Can you explain to me which meds I will need to get and what is the best brand? Also, are the meds needed every month and is there an all in one that would work?

Just trying to figure out my options and budget in the cost appropriately.
