I don't think we are supposed to change the order of the letters, just 1 letter. The OP wrote:

They did not say to not change the order but their example was:
LUCK
LACK
LACE
LAKE.


And if you look at the 1st 100 or so posts, the order is never changed. The game can be played either way, not changing the order makes it harder.
