I wish my MIL was allergic...I'd have 50 dogs running around my house to keep her out.
I really don't care what anyone else does with thiers....meaning it doesn't affect me so I just don't have an opinion one way or the other about it...just about what I do. Trixie really isn't too fond of riding in the car, so it's not really a problem. Even if she loved it, I probably wouldn't take her with me. A 5 yr old and a dog to worry about in Wal-Mart with the crazies...enough to drive me insane.
Another reason is, if I had her with me, I wouldn't be shocked for someone to want to come up and pet her...I mean, I brought her in, why wouldn't they and why would I have a good excuse to tell them no? Because I don't know where they've been and what germs they may have? Well then why would I have her out in the first place? Because she may bite someone? Why would I takle a dog that may bite around people? Just doesn't make sense
to me. Others see differently and that's their business.
Do I really want to be eating, putting food in my mouth with someone's dog at the next table staring at me? No. Not because I don't like dogs, but I don't know where THEIR dog has been, what it may have, etc. (But, I guess that could be said for other people too...right?)
I don't PERSONALLY know anyone who has dog allergies, but my husband has extreme cat allergies...to the point of needing injections if around them. The strays around here have been known to sleep on our porch chair, him sit in it, and be in the ER an hour later. I guess it is feasible for some to react the same w/ dogs? My general rule of thumb is just that if I have to wonder, "Hmm...is anybody going to care if I take Trixie in here...?" I just don't take her. If there is the remote possibility that it is "against the rules" or "offending others," I just have no desire to intentionally do that. Just me though....
