My boys rarely play with each other. Overall, they prefer walks and outings of all kinds. Max always has a toy ready for me, but usually it is more a means to another end.
As others have commented, be patient, talk to them as you go about your routine, and give them lots of loving.
Try doing "tricks for treats" -- having them perform basic commands like sit, stay, down, shake hands, etc for a little food reward. My boys enjoy performing.
