We adopted a one year old and he had no idea what toys were. Based on his behavior, we suspect he was physically abused. I just kept them out and available for him. He finally, after about a month, got interested in the toys I hide food in. He only got interested in the others when we babysat another dog and that dog engaged Mario with the other toys. Now he plays with a variety.
__________________ Mario  was adopted May 2015. Now he is a service dog and brother to Bailey the Airdale mix
